Irish Heart Foundation BLS Instructors Course
The Irish Heart Foundation’s Basic Life Support (BLS) & Cardiac First Response (CFR) Community Instructor Course is for Doctors, Nurses, Paramedics, and EMTs who would like to learn how to teach the following courses:
- BLS Provider
- Heartcode BLS
- BLS Provider & CFR Community
AHA/ IHF BLS instructors can also teach Heartsaver Courses and CPR for Family & Friends. This instructor course is dual-certified by IHF and PHECC. The Cardiac First Response Community Course is the required standard of training for any group wishing to link to the National Ambulance Service as a Cardiac First Responder Group. The BLS and CFR Community Add-on Course includes the BLS Provider Course as its basis with an additional CFR Community module. The additional CFR portion of the course includes:
- Stroke assessment (FAST Assessment)
- Heart attack and the administration of aspirin
- Patient Handover and CFR report
- Infection Control
- Post-event issues (critical incident stress awareness and debrief)
- Team resuscitation

Manual Handling Instructor Course
Manual Handling Instructor Course
The aim of this award is to enable learners to effectively design and deliver Manual Handling Instruction for the workplace. This programme will enable learners to deliver training which can be specifically tailored to the local Manual Handling conditions. It will ensure competency in the preparation of Manual Handling Risk Assessments.
This programme will have a duration of 5 days. Delivery of this programme may be delivered in-house or offered on a public basis in venues around the country. The facilitation of this programme will consist of a variety of lectures, practical demonstrations and student-centred learning. There is a total of 5 modules that are covered, all modules are compulsory which lead to the Level 6 Certification in Manual Handling Instruction (6S0242)

Unit 1 Legislative requirements for manual handling and health benefit
Unit 2 Anatomy and back care
Unit 3 Ergonomic principles and manual handling risk assessment
Unit 4 Manual handling principles and techniques
Unit 5 Planning and design of manual handling training courses
Unit 6 Delivery of manual handling training courses
Certification
In successful completion of this course learners will receive a QQI Level 6 Manual Handling Instructor Certificate. This is a requirement by the HSA for manual handling training.

The purpose of this course is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence to effectively design and deliver people handling instruction for the workplace.

Entry requirements:
Participants must first complete the QQI Level 6 Manual Handling Instructor.
